Who we are
We Create Tech, Inc. ("We Create Tech," "WCT," "we," or "us") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Decatur, Georgia. This policy covers wecreatetech.org, our programs (including TechRise and the TechRise Launchpad), our forms, and our emails.

What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and profile details such as your full name, email address, phone number, and LinkedIn profile.
- Program and enrollment details such as date of birth, gender, race and ethnicity, school name, major, and graduation year.
- Account information such as login credentials, including when you sign in with Google or Apple.
- What you share with us such as form submissions, survey responses, opportunity submissions, and messages to our team.
- Photos, video, and student work from our programs, used only as allowed by a signed media release. Publishing a minor's work, or crediting it to a minor by name, requires verified permission from a parent or guardian, and student work is not added to public galleries automatically.
- Learning and evaluation information such as attendance, reflections, and short surveys that help us understand how our programs are working.
- Email preferences such as the lists you join and optional details like your career stage and region.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information such as device type, operating system, browser type, IP address, pages viewed, and links clicked.
- Cookies and similar tools that help our website work and help us understand how it is used. See Analytics + cookies below.

How we use it
- Run our programs, manage accounts, and confirm eligibility.
- Send the emails you signed up for, including program updates, events, and opportunities.
- Answer your questions and support requests.
- Connect members with advisors, resources, and opportunities through TechRise.
- Understand how our website and programs are used so we can improve them.
- Report on our impact to funders and partners, using combined or de-identified numbers whenever possible.
- Evaluate our programs using participant codes instead of names. We report only combined results, and we combine or withhold results for groups small enough to identify someone.
- Meet our legal and safety obligations.

How we share it
We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
We share information only when it helps us run our work or when we have to:
- Service providers that help us operate, such as our email platform (Mailchimp), form tools (Tally), website analytics (Google Analytics), and hosting. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Community features in TechRise, where information you choose to share may be visible to other members or advisors.
- Program partners in limited cases, such as a school or partner organization co-running a program you joined, and only what they need for that program.
- Legal reasons when required by law or to protect the safety of students, staff, or others.
- Organizational changes such as a merger or transfer of our programs to another organization, subject to this policy.

Analytics + cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use wecreatetech.org, such as which pages are visited, how visitors found us, and which links and buttons are clicked. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects device and usage information. We do not send Google Analytics your name, email address, or the answers you enter in our forms.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on. Learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com.

Email lists
When you join the We Create Tech newsletter or the TechRise Opportunity Drop, we store your email address and any optional details you provide with our email provider, Mailchimp, so we can send you those emails. They are separate lists, and joining one does not sign you up for the other or for TechRise membership.
Every email includes a link to update your preferences or unsubscribe. You can also email hello@wecreatetech.org and we will remove you.

Outside links
Our website and emails link to jobs, internships, scholarships, events, and resources on other websites. Those sites have their own privacy policies and practices, which we do not control. We Create Tech does not share your information with them.
If you create an account or apply through another site, that site's policy applies to the information you give it. Please review it before you submit anything, and contact that site directly with any questions about your data there.

Children's privacy
Some of our programs serve students under 13. For those students, we collect personal information from a parent or guardian, or from a school that runs the program with us, not directly from the child. We collect only what we need to run the program, we never sell it or use it for advertising, and a parent or guardian can review, update, or delete their child's information anytime by emailing hello@wecreatetech.org.
Students do not enter personal information into AI tools, and facilitators review AI tools before using them with minors.
Our website, email lists, and the TechRise app are not designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 through them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information without a parent or guardian, contact us and we will delete it.

Keeping it safe
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information and limit access to people who need it to do their work. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy or as required by law.

Your rights + choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we have about you.
- Update or correct it.
- Delete it.
- Withdraw consent for certain uses, including media consent.
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time.

Request data deletion
Email hello@wecreatetech.org with the subject line "Data Deletion Request." Include your name, the email address you used with us, and any account details that help us find your information.
We will respond within 30 days. We may keep certain information when the law requires it, such as donation records.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our programs and tools change. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make significant changes, we will let you know by email or on our website.
